Tattoos & The World I Live In

In this time and place, tattoos are everywhere. It’s common to see them on just about everyone we meet who are in their twenties and thirties. My wife has three herself and I have one. The one tattoo that is emblazoned on my skin is a tribute. It’s a remembrance of a man who meant the world to me. The man who instilled a set of morals that has shaped and haunted me as I grew into the man I am today. My grandfather, a distinguished man, a stand up man, a comical man, and a compassionate man, who loved his family and always strived to do what was best for all of us. My grandmother was just as equal as he was and many times superceded this man who I looked up to so much.

Have You Ever Done This?

I used to sleepwalk a lot when I was a child. Well, sometimes, I apparently still do it to this day. The last episode that I remember was about this time last year. Usually, they’re just regular dreams, don’t mean anything, but this particular one, I’d call it more of a nightmare. I ended up waking my wife, Cyndi from talking in my sleep and getting her all concerned. I don’t remember the dream, only bits and pieces of waking up while physically moving around in and out of the bed.

My Visual DNA

I don’t normally do these online personality quiz thingies, but this one really sparked my interest. It’s fun, visual, and… COOL! Enjoy ;-)

Well, WordPress won’t let all of the coding to come through. However, if you click “Read my VisualDNA” you can see it.

More Pipes

During this past weekend, my lovely wife and I took off to have a little fun. I’ve been wanting to go to some antique stores in search of some pipes to restore and boy did I find some. I think I came home with a total of 13 pipes of different sizes, shapes, and makers. Along with my find, I came home with an interesting pipe stand that looks like bamboo with ropes for the pipe holders. One particular pipe I’m excited about is a Savinelli Churchwarden with a short stem. I’m thinking it’s supposed to come with a long stem as well, so I might have to query Savinelli for a replacement stem. I still haven’t found one on-line to compare it with though.

Several of the pipes include a Sterncrest (which from some quick research, were primarily sold to military personnel in the 40’s), a EA Carey, a couple of Dr. Grabows, couple of Kaywoodie pipes, a Chacom, and some more that I can’t quite remember what they are. I’m hoping to get some before and after pics for y’all to see. Some of these pipes I’ll probably sell on Ebay. Some, I’m not even sure if they’ll be smoke-able after I clean them up.

I’m excited though. This is a hobby that I’m really starting to enjoy and now I have some pipes to work with.

Last Homestudy Meeting Tonight

The anxiety I had spoke of in my last entry went away pretty fast that evening. Our caseworker for this part is an extremely nice woman and very, very efficient. Both visits were comfortable and relaxing for the most part. I just wish we were more rested for these last two. It’s been crazy busy with work and with trying to prepare the house for children, we just don’t seem to have much time to rest.

Homestudy Anxiety

Tonight is a big day for us as we venture further and further into the state adoption program. Today, we have our first homestudy visit. In the beginning, our instructor for IMPACT told us that while we don’t have to be completely ready for children in our home, there needs to be some progress.
