My Rinaldo Pipe

My Rinaldo Pipe

Originally uploaded by bootlegbonvivant.

I’ve been slacking off on updating my pipe collection page, but I just took this picture with my phone camera. Gotta love Sony cameras, lol.

This is my Rinaldo YY Lithos, Silver Line, Titania handmade Italian pipe. This was sort of a birthday present from my wife. I picked it out and fell in love with it almost instantly. I was in search for a bulldog and was just going to get a Peterson bulldog. The tobacconist also gave me a tin of Dunhill 965 to try with it. I sat there in the shop while my wife went to Bed, Bath & Beyond for awhile and smoked this beaut with the 965, talking with the tobacconist about his different blends and accessories. This was an estate pipe that had never been smoked, so you can imagine my excitement to enjoy a pipe like this from the first puff. From what I was told, this pipe is a 2001 model.

Platial

When I first saw this, I couldn’t figure out what I could possibly use Platial maps for. Then it hit me a couple of weeks ago. Use it to post tobacco stores and carver locations around the world. What I’ve already posted are two tobacco shops that are local to me. I hope to add more information about them, but I did place a little bio about them in Platial. Now it’s up to you, those who find this, to update your favorite tobacco shop, or where to find great pipes, repair/restoration services, and carver storefronts. You should see the Platial map located in the sidebar and if you have any issue placing a location, just comment with the address/website/information and I’ll put it on there for ya.

My hope is that when I have to travel for business, or pleasure, I can find a good store close by if I need one. I’m sure these places wouldn’t mind the added attention too. :-)

A Family?

As my lovely wife spoke in her blog, The Abused Book Liberation Project, we’re working on starting what many would call, a non-traditional family. The adoption process has been fascinating so far and I can’t believe the amount of support adoptive parents get through and after having children.

Pipe Rotating

There are many opinions that I’ve seen on this topic. But what is important to note is that if you’re a regular pipe smoker, it’s best to have several pipes that you rotate throughout the week. The reason? Continue reading ‘Pipe Rotating’

Thoughts From a Quote

“There can be no doubt that smoking nowadays is largely a miserable automatic business. People use tobacco without ever taking an intelligent interest in it. They do not experiment, compare, fit the tobacco to the occasion. A man should always be pleasantly conscious of the fact that he is smoking.” -John Boynton Priestley

Maybe this is one way in which smoking in general has become so negative in society. In today’s time, how many people actually enjoy their tobacco?
